Hot Wine for Hot Mamas: One Group of Girlfriends Christmas Tradition Calls for a ToastWe make a big deal of it every year. For the 5 of us, Sheila, Lisa, Patti, Jodi and me, it's a culmination of another 12 months of friendship ending with what we call 'Christmas Club'. |

Come December after a month of trying to guess who has who, we all meet at my house which has become another tradition. Jodi brings her Hot Wine. Never having it before our first Christmas Club 7 years ago, like any tradition that you look forward to, I can’t imagine warming our cockles (Do women have cockles?) without it. We sip hot wine, eat appetizers and desserts and finally, with much goofiness, we exchange gifts. Make Hot Wine for Your Hot Mamas
In an uncovered saucepan, bring to a boil water, burgandy, sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat add lemon slices and cover. Let steam for 10 minutes or until the lemon slices become mushy. If serving shortly, remove cloves and cinnamon sticks (if storing for later and reheating leave spices in). Remove lemon slices leaving pulp in the mixture. Add brandy. Simmer on low heat and pour into glasses. Serve hot. Enjoy! *If you buy cloves in bulk, pour the rest into a large candle holder or hurricane vase and place candle in middle. The Toast Got a girls-night-out question or comment?
